What to expect on the new “Idol Radio Show” website

So now there is an online companion to the Idol Radio Show. And if you are like every other normal human being out there, you’ve asked yourself, “I wonder what the all-new, extremely sharp-looking website to that awesome, wonderful, terrific Internet radio show will be used for.”

What do you mean you didn’t ask yourself that? Are you really not normal?

As you know, the Idol Radio Show is all about giving our opinions on various topics. We give our opinions about the American Idol performances. We give our opinions about how America voted. We give our opinions every time Lindsay Lohan does something stupid (I mean, really, Lindsay…… getting into a fight AT the rehab center?). Whatever the subject covered on the show, we give our opinions about it. And that’s what the website will be about as well: opinions.

You won’t find news articles posted over here. MJ’s Big Blog, AI Now, Vote For The Worst, and Idol Blog Live all do that very well already. I’m not interested in trying to compete with their abilities in that area and wouldn’t know how even if I wanted to. But you can still see the latest news if you want. Look about one-quarter of the way down on the sidebar and you will see a “Latest Posts From Other “AI” and “XF” Sites” section. This section shows the three most recent posts from the sites named above and automatically updates whenever they make a new post.

Instead, I will use the site to post my thoughts and opinions about all things American Idol, X Factor, and the entertainment industry in general. It might be something that we’ve talked about on the radio show that I want to expand on, or it might be something funny that happened on TV or a news story that I came across. Whenever I see something that just begs me to comment about it, that’s what I’ll do.

And who knows. Maybe writing about it will keep the forehead vein from throbbing.

But, hopefully, it won’t be just me sharing my opinions. I’ve invited the other show hosts and contributors to post their forty-four cents (ain’t inflation a killer) worth of thoughts as well. In fact, CB Snow has already created a post about something he sees happening to young contestants that bothers him (Another year, another batch of the dreams of youth crushed – make sure to check it out). Hopefully, Sir Darryl, DJSlim, Queen Angie, and ChuckRitt will all follow suit.

Of course, you will be able to find the latest podcasts from the show here as well. And the next time we do a contest, it’ll be posted here as well. And the Idol Blog Live Shoutbox is over here as well so you can interact with me and my co-host during the show (just click the Shoubox tab at the top of the page). And I’m sure as time goes, we’ll find more and more things to overwhelm you with.

As you can see, the all-new Idol Radio Show website will be a happening place. So make sure you keep up with all the latest by liking our Facebook Fan Page (top of the sidebar), following us on Twitter (bottom right of your computer screen), and subscribing to our Site Feed (click the orange icon at the top of the sidebar).

And don’t dawdle. My forehead vein is rapidly expanding.

I really like the news bar on the side especially since many of them are recent performances from previous AI people. I also like the box with all the ways to contact you during the show. Would be nice to have the shoutbox permanently on the side, but then again, there’s alot of clutter over there already. I’d like to tweak the color scheme a little since the black and red is a bit of an eye strain, but I’m very color oriented so that’s just going to be my little quirk. Hope I didn’t make the ol’ forehead vein throb with that very slight criticism :)

  2. MJ’s Big Blog does an awesome job keeping track of who is performing where and when, whether it be a big concert or simply singing the National Anthem before a sports game. And she often has videos of the performances and concerts.

A part of me would have liked to have the Shoutbox in the sidebar, but when all was said and done, there was just too much other stuff over there. Plus, having it as it’s own page allowed me to make the box much bigger. I think it makes it easier to see and read when its busy.

I think the red-on-black only happens at the top of the main page. The red was the only color I tried that I thought worked well on the brown shades the site uses as background colors. I may try to see if we can fill in the that black box with a different background color to help diffuse the red color.

And thanks for worrying about my forehead vein. :)

The red on black is in both the recent posts and the recent comments boxes, not just the top of the page. Try a medium blue such as the facebook share button (but not neon blue). Yellow on black is a preferred combo for low vision aid, but not the neon shades… just a thought. No big deal. Don’t know what choices you have in the toolbox anyway.

Well, I know how “vein” you are about your looks so I’ll try to minimize stress. Pun intended, hahahahahahaha

  4. hmmmmmmmmm…………. I’m looking at both the Recent Posts and Recent Comments section, and they do not have a black background. They have the same dark brown background color that the rest of the sidebar has.

Black, dark brown, you’re splitting hairs, Alan! It’s dark, okay! Dark! Squint at it and it’ll look black enough! Sheesh, there goes MY forehead vein! hahahahaahahhahahaha

  6. Don’t let Sir Darryl hear you say that there isn’t a difference between black and dark brown. We might never get around to talking about “American Idol” if you get him started on that.

What do you think of the link color now? I think it works very well on the dark brown backgrounds, and I think it is fine for the top and bottom of the posts. But is it causing too much of an eye strain on the main part of the post?

  7. Okay. I made changes to the background color on the post body, and that fixed the new link color from being hard to see. I hope that’s better.

    MUCH better, Alan, thanks!

There are no ‘black’ skinned people, they are various shades of brown. Just like there aren’t any white ones either – they range from cream to tan. So there. My family is pretty colorblind when it comes to skin color though.

i wanna see the idol girls in bikinis :)

  10. I’m 110% sure you WON’T find that here, Slim.

  11. DJSlim says:

@ Token White Guy: well i do have posting rights. we may have to change that :)

  12. @ DJSlim: If you EVER post such a picture, I’ll bust you back so far you’ll be envious of Eli’s “Potential Intern” status. :)

@ Token White Guy: he is on Darryl’s show. I am envious :)
