It only took us four years to get here, but we finally have a new website for the Idol Radio Show. And in case you didn’t see the title of this entry: Welcome!
So why did it take so long for me to get around to creating a website for the show? For starters, I had to wrestle the domain name away from Sir Darryl. You see, Darryl’s feelings were hurt when I rose up and took control of the radio show away from him (not THAT hurt, though, since he is still my co-host). So Darryl retaliated the only way he could: by keeping control of the name of the site and refusing to allow me to use it. He laughed about it. He waved the site name in my face. He even once sent me a postcard with a picture of the website on the front and the words “na na na na na na” scribbled on the back. But in the end, I once again rose up and took control of what rightfully belonged to me.
More than that, though, is the fact that I really had no clue how to go about creating a site for the show. While I do know HTML and CSS very well, I am not at all versed in PHP, JavaScript, Perl, Flash, or any of the other scripting and programming languages that make Websites fun. (If your mind just exploded from all those initials and names you have never heard of, then please make sure to clean up after yourself. I haven’t had a chance to hire a maid for the place yet.) Nor am I that creative of a person. My websites in the past have tended to be bland sites that have no imagination to them. Or is that how I describe my life?
Thankfully, though, my friend, Idol Radio Show contributor and (come September 2011) co-host, and IdolBlogLive.com owner DJ Slim knew exactly what to do: create a WordPress site. And with that, the problem was solved and a new website was born.
So take a look around and get a feel for the new site. Click the “Login with Facebook” link in the sidebar to the right to link your Facebook account to the site, or click the Register tab at the top of the page to create a new account for our site. And, most importantly, spread the word that the all-new Idol Radio Show website is open. Click the Facebook Share button at the top or bottom of the post, join our Facebook Fan Page by clicking the “Like” button in the sidebar, and send a Twitter message by clicking the “Tweet” button in the bottom left corner of your computer screen.
But whatever you do, don’t tell Sir Darryl about the site. He still thinks he owns the domain name.
Check back later in the week for a post about what you can expect to see and hear on the Idol Radio Show.

hate to break it to ya alan, Darryl is the only one with access to the nameservers for the domain. he STILL has all the control he needs :)
How long before I get the email containing my password?
WordPress controls that, Joyce. It’s always been instantaneous for me, and I’ve already gotten the e-mail that you have registered. Check your spam folder.
Not in spam. Oh well…
how long till we have a pickler banner?
@ Joyce: I’ve sent you an e-mail.
@ joeyinc: Not until I’m sure Slim can behave himself with such a poster posted. In other words, never.
Yay! I’ve got the site bookmarked and I’m all registered. Is there any way I can change my password to something I’ll actually remember? The one that was issued by WordPress looks like the keyboard just threw up gibberish.
Oh I forgot to login EXACTLY according to instructions. Sigh. PITA website. hahahahahaha
Keep it up, Amy, and you’ll find your display name changed to PITA. *evil laugh*
LOL, Alan. You’d rather I be boring and totally agreeable to absolutely everything you say or do?! That’s what your mirror is for!
Can I change the password or not?The one that was issued looks like keyboard vomit. Or comicbook censored cursing.
@ ABB: Sorry. For some reason I was thinking that your post about having forgotten to login “exactly” meant that’s why you couldn’t see how to change your password. Oops. :)
When you are logged in, click the “Edit Profile” link at the top of the sidebar. You will find the password changer at the bottom of your profile page.
Thanks, Alan, that’s much better. Actually my revious comment about not logging in was referring to the email that is sent for verification… so my comments were tagged with the ‘awaiting moderation after email verification’ stuff. Ah, you know those darn details…
Happy New Year and bring on the new season of AI!
