‘Sir Darryl Radio Experience’ – A 2011 Frontier Fifty

I interrupt your regularly scheduled American Idol season to do something that should only be attempted under the strictest of care and caution. Attempting to do what I’m about to do without proper training can lead to rapid loss of space in the room, being pushed against a wall with tremendous force, and even sudden loss of air. Do not attempt this at home.

So what am I about to do that is so dangerous? Feed Sir Darryl’s ego, of course, by congratulating him and his Sir Darryl Radio Experience making the 2011 Frontier Fifty by Talkers’ Magazine.

This is the third year that Talkers’ has published the Frontier Fifty: A Selection of Outstanding Talk Media Webcasters. And there is a very good reason why Sir Darryl is on that list: He is really that good.

As many of you know, Sir Darryl started the Idol Radio Show in 2007. When I joined just a couple of weeks later, I had no idea what I was doing. This was so far out of my comfort zone, I thought I was going to puke that first week I was on. But I had a lot of fun, and Darryl and I quickly developed a rapport. But that rapport was all Darryl’s doing. We worked solely because Darryl was able to adapt to me. And he is able to do the same thing with anyone he has on his show.

Darryl making the Frontier Fifty list is very well deserved, in my opinion. He has a lot of talents that makes listening to his radio show an interesting experience every time. And I’ve learned a lot from him over the past five seasons. And I doubt I’m done with the learning.

So congratulations, Sir Darryl, on making the Frontier Fifty in 2011.
