Access Hollywood reported a story late last night that Piers Morgan had quit NBC’s popular summer talent show, America’s Got Talent. Piers announced his decision to leave during his Piers Morgan Tonight show on CNN last night. Piers Morgan Tonight is the show that succeeded Larry King live back in January of this year. Piers, the last of the original America’s Got Talent judges, says his decision to leave was because juggling both shows was much harder than he had imagined it would be.
It’s too soon for NBC to have announced a replacement for the grumpy Brit at the judges’ table, but it’s never too early to speculate. Could Simon Cowell, who owns the Got Talent franchise, take Piers’ place on the show? Back when Simon was on American Idol, he was also on the judges’ table for the U.K. version of The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent. Simon left Idol to start up the U.S. version of The X Factor, which forced him to leave the U.K. version of the show as well since the two shows aired at the same time of the year. Could Simon leave Britain’s Got Talent in order to sit on the America’s Got Talent panel?
Leave your thoughts about the chances Simon could join the America’s Got Talent judges’ table in the comments below, along with who you think should be added to the panel.
