American Idol‘s David Cook had a slight wardrobe malfunction over the weekend as he performed at Penn State. And if not for his trusty guitar, well…….
All was going well for the Season 7 winner as he performed his songs at the college. Then came the song “Declaration.” During it, his leather pants developed a rip.
If you didn’t pay attention to the title of this entry, you might think the rip developed where rips normally develop…… in the seat of the pants. But alas, that is not the case here. David Cook did not spend the rest of the show mooning his drummer.
Instead, the rip started around the knee of his right leg and went all the way up to his waist. And Cook, who, taking his cues from Dancing with the Stars celebrity dancer Nancy Grace, apparently wasn’t wearing any additional support under his pants.
See David’s reaction after the jump.
When the rip happened, David stopped singing “Declaration” for a few seconds. He then finished the song, which is where the video below picks up.
The video above is the steadiest of all the videos I found on the incident, and has the best audio as well. But it doesn’t show just how wide the pants rip was. You can see it on this video here.
David walks behind some equipment on stage to change guitars and get his pants duct taped back together (got to love how versatile duct tape is; Nancy Grace might want to look into using it as well). He went on with the rest of the concert, apparently with no additional incidents.
I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if there had been no duct tape available for David to use? Or if it hadn’t worked. I suppose the drummer could have let David borrow his pants. After all, he’s sitting down. No one’s going to see what’s going on back there anyway.
I also wonder if attendance for David’s future concerts will rise as all David’s lady fans hope for an encore performance.

Oh my gosh! You did not use that for your title! LOL This is too funny. David Cook’s a cool guy, though and I love that lady’s laugh.
I HAD to use it for my title, since David Cook used it. :)
