CMA Awards – Brad, Carrie… and Hank Jr.

Brad and Carrie

The Country Music Association Awards was last night, and for the fourth year in a row, Brad Paisley and American Idol Season 4 winner Carrie Underwood hosted what is billed as country music’s biggest night.

While I’m generally not an awards show fan, often times not even bothering to find out who won what, I am a fan of Brad and Carrie and their hosting of the CMA Awards. They have great chemistry and comedic timing together. They have made the opening segment of the CMA Awards worth watching every year, and last night’s opening was no different.

Funny stuff, right?

What I especially liked was the standing ovation by the audience when Hank Williams Jr. came out to help poke fun at himself. I’ve always felt that ESPN overreacted when they pulled “Are You Ready For Some Football” opener from their Monday Night Football broadcast, and it was nice to see Country Music stars stand up for one of their own.

And the whole 72 days being forever and ever, amen, was hilarious.
