America's Got Talent

The Top 10 took the stage last night in an effort to get America to vote them through to the finale. With only four spots available in the Finale, six acts will see their dreams of winning $1 million and headlining an act at the Cesar’s Palace in Las Vegas end tonight. That means they needed to bring their A-game to the stage last night. Unfortunately, most did not.

As a reminder, my picks are Landon Swank, Silhouettes, Smage Brothers Riding Show, and Team iLuminate. I suspect that one of the singers, either Anna Graceman, Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., or PopLyfe, could make it through tonight. If that happens, it will likely be at the expense of Landon Swank, who many people felt completely botched his illusion last night, and/or the Samge Brothers Riding Show, who has made it this far only thanks to the judges. There is no reason to think that Silhouettes or Team iLuminate won’t breeze through to the Finale.

Tonight’s results show should be the most exiting one of the season. Hopefully, the filler acts they’ve brought in will match the level of excitement the results will give us.

I’ll be blogging the results live after the jump.

The acts going through to the Finale are: Team iLuminate, PopLyfe, Silhouettes, and Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.

“Dream On Dream On Dream On, Dream until your dreams come true
Dream On Dream On Dream On, Dream until your dream comes through
Dream On Dream On Dream On Dream On Dream On Dream On Dream On.”

Sorry. I’ve been watching various “Dream On” performances all day. And they have been horrendous. Make sure to vote in our “Which ‘Dream On’ performance is the worse” poll in the sidebar on the right.

Nick Cannon starts the show by telling us that we had the highest vote of the season last night, but fails to tell us how many votes it was. A quick look into the Green Room shows the Top 10 jumping up and down, masking the fact that they have to be nervous as all heck.

Heck. I’m nervous as all heck.

Nick and Howie Mandel bring up the goldfish from Landon Swank’s performance last night since it’s been the talk of Twitter for the last 24 hours. They show the video with the goldfish highlighted, showing that the fish did end up in the tank. Howie says the fish now lives at his place.

First to the stage are Smage Brothers Riding Show and Team iLuminate. This is instant death for the Smage Brothers, unless Nick sends them both through and then picks one act from each of the next two groups of four. While Team iLuminate does deserve to be in the Finale, so does the Smage Brothers. But the brothers have been put through each time by the judges, meaning America simply had limited use for them.

The first act going into next week Finale’s is………….. Team iLuminate.

Hey! It’s a commercial for the remake of the Kevin Bacon hit, Footloose. Somewhere out there, Queen Angie is throwing a tantrum. And I’m sure we’ll hear all about it tomorrow when she joins me as my co-host on the Idol Radio Show.

Back from commercial, Nick pimps the start of Thursday Night Football. Then it’s off to the Orville Redenbacher Lounge, where the Top 10 acts partied last night.

Nick then calls Miami All Stars and Lys Agnes. Neither act deserves to go through based on last night’s performance. There have been plenty of times in the past few weeks where Nick sent both acts on stage through to the next round, but never a time where he sent both acts on stage home. Could it be about to happen? And could it please happen quickly, because I can’t take the replay of Lys Agnes’ performance of “Dream On.”

The next act going through to the Finale is………………. neither of them.

Can I call it, or can I call it?

Back from another commercial, which means its time for another result. This time, PopLyfe and Landon Swank take the stage. Uh-oh. Now I’m nervous. I get what PopLyfe is doing, but they just aren’t there yet in my opinion. Landon Swank is a great magician and illusionist, and I think would create an amazing trick for next week. But with all the chatter that took place over the goldfish, people may have opted not to vote for him thinking he lied about the fish getting into the tank.

Nick mentions that it was a close vote, with only one percent separating the two. Could this mean both will go through?

The second act to make it through to next week’s Finale is…………… PopLyfe.

Crap. If ever there was a time for Nick to “pull one over on us,” now would be the time for it. Not gonna happen, unfortunately.

When we come back from commercial, Nick is standing at the judges’ table. That means it’s time for some filler. It comes in the form of a video of what happens behind the scenes at America’s Got Talent. It’s mostly Nick in an undershirt, making fun of Piers Morgan, interrupting Sharon Osbourne while taping, and helping a nude Howie Mandel pick out which pair of shoes to wear.

I did NOT need to see that. Ugh.

Special guest Il Divo takes the stage, singing the first single from their upcoming album, Wicked Game. The album will be released on November 28 off the Syco label, which is Simon Cowell’s record label. So blame Simon for the complete and utter butchering of what was once a Chris Isaak’s classic. Nothing made sense. They sounded like they couldn’t hear each other. And they all tried to outdo both each other and the music, all of which just turned the whole thing into a loud mess. Ugh.

After that really bad round of filler, it’s time for more results. Silhouettes and West Springfield Dance Team are invited to the stage next. This should be a no-brainer. West Springfield Dance Team gave us an extremely lackluster choreography last night, resulting in an extremely yawn-inducing performance. Silhouettes, on the other hand, tugged at our hearts yet again, proving that they have a lot of material they can use for their routines.

The third act going through to the Finale is……………….. Silhouettes.

That leaves Anna Graceman and Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. to take the stage. I was right at the start of the show that one of these singers would make it through. I think both Landon Swank and Smage Brothers Riding Show both deserve to make it through instead. But since that’s not going to happen, I’m going to make Anna Graceman my pick. She has a good voice and doesn’t try too hard. I’ve just never gotten Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. He needs more polish, in my opinion.

The fourth and final act to make it to the Finale is……………. Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.

So there you have it. The acts for the Finale have been set. Are you happy with who went through? Semi-happy? Sad? Or so mad, fire is shooting from your eyes?
