The second round of the semi-finals occurred last night, and by the end of the night we’ll have our Top 10 acts. Overall, it was probably the best night of performances all season long. Still, I had my favorites, some disappointments, and some that I just don’t get.
As a reminder, my picks are Landon Swank, Summerwind Skippers, Steven Retchless, Smage Brothers Riding Show, and Silhouettes. Fatally Unique and Snap Boogie just barely missed making my list, for mostly small reasons. Last night was strong enough that this could be a night of surprises.
I’ll be blogging the results live after the jump.
Going through to the Top 10: Silhouettes, Anna Graceman, Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., Landon Swank, and Smage Brothers Riding Show.
It’s showtime, folks. After a two-minute long video of clips from last night’s acts, Nick Cannon comes out on stage looking extremely dapper, and normal, in a black tuxedo-style suit. Nick says last night had the highest number of votes they’ve had all season long. Nick asks all the acts backstage how they are doing and tells us who the special guests will be tonight.
After all that, it’s time to introduce the judges. Sharon Osbourne has apparently found something extremely funny, as she’s laughing her head off. Howie Mandell says America had to struggle last night in deciding who to vote for, something I agree with. Nick asks Piers if he is in a bad mood, and he responds that he is in a good mood, but that it’s really tense waiting to see who will go through.
Gymkana, Steven Retchless, and Silhouettes are told to take the stage. Three of my five picks all up right away. This isn’t going to be good. Will Nick surprise us by sending two of these acts through to the Top 10? I really hope so.
America has voted. The act going into the Top 10 is…….. Silhouettes. The other two are sent home. I’m very happy that Silhouettes made it through. I’m ticked off that the other two went home. Crap.
Back from commercial, and Nick shows us what happened in the Orville Redenbacher Lounge. He then introduces David Guetta, who is DJing his new single, “Where them Girls at” with Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj performing. Long stretches of the song are getting silenced on my stream, indicating that this is an expletive-laden song. Are there just not any songs that don’t have cussing in them anymore?
Oh, and would please tell Nicki to buy a vocal tuner. And a new hair coloring system. And a new wardrobe. And a new personality. Ugh.
Time for more results. This time, Nick asks Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. and Anna Graceman to join him on stage. Neither one of them are on my list, though if I have to choose, it would be Anna Graceman. She didn’t make my list last night mostly because of Jackie Evancho’s performances from last season. With Landau, I just don’t see the Frank Sinatra comparison. Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if Nick says both of them go through.
America has voted. The next Top 10 act is……………….. Anna Graceman. And Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. Nick tried to trick us that Landau wasn’t going through, but it was clear what was going on the moment Nick stopped Landau from walking off the stage.
This is not going to be my night. At least it’s not a Forehead Vein Warning night. Yet.
But the results aren’t over with. Professor Splash, Fatally Unique, Summerwind Skippers, and Landon Swank all take the stage. Only one of these acts will make it through tonight. And I’m not happy, cause at least one of my remaining picks is about to go home. At this point, I have to hope that Landon Swank goes through. His trick last night was flat-out heart stopping.
America has voted. The next act in the Top 10 is………………… Landon Swank!
Yes! Yes! Yes!
I’m sad to see Summerwind Skippers go home, but I’m happy Landon made it.
That leaves us with The Kinetic King, Snap Boogie, and Smage Brothers Riding Show. America has voted two of these acts into the fifth and sixth slot. The judges will then vote one of those two acts through. I’m hoping that the Smage Brothers Riding Show is the judges’ pick, cause they really deserve it.
I’m going to be nervous the rest of the show now. Ugh.
Susan Boyle takes the stage to sing the world premiere of her new single, “You Have To Be There.” This is talent, people. Pure talent. Even with all her oddities, like the times she simply stops singing while performing on a show, she is something to watch. I still watch her Britain’s Got Talent audition video from time to time, because I love watching the judges’ faces, and the crowd’s standing ovation, as Susan demonstrates that she is not a fake audition.
Here we go. Time to find out which of the three remaining acts will be sent home and which two will be voted on by the judges. That said, Nick asks The Kinetic King, Snap Boogie, and Smage Brothers Riding Show out onto the stage. I am so freaking nervous right now. I almost want Snap Boogie to go home right now, because I think the judges would all vote for the Smage Brothers if they were up against The Kinetic King.
America has voted. The act going home right now, and not being voted on by the judges, is ………. The Kinetic King!
I’m not overly shocked by this result. But now I’m worried. I feel the Smage Brothers had a much better act than Snap Boogie, and the judges seemed to feel that way when giving their comments last night.
As the judges go off to think about who they will vote for, I’m crossing my fingers, toes, hands, arms, legs, ankles, eyes, tongue, and hair. Can’t be too careful at a time like this.
We are back from the commercial. Time to find out whether Snap Boogie or Smage Brothers Riding Show will be going through to the Top 10.
Sharon Osbourne votes for Snap Boogie
Crap!
Piers Morgan votes for Smage Brothers Riding Show.
Yes!
It all rests on Howie now.
Howie Mandel votes for Smage Brothers Riding Show.
YES! YES! YES!
I am very happy right now. The Smage Brothers Riding Show was my favorite of all the acts last night, and the thought of them not making it through to the Top 10 had been sweating bullets.
So there you have it. The second group of acts have made it through to the Top 10. Are you happy with who went through? Or are you so made, foam is coming out of your mouth?
Vote in the poll at the top of the blog entry. And leave your thoughts in the comments below.
