The sometimes genius ChuckRitt joined Alan, aka the Token White Guy, for tonight’s Idol Radio Show. After getting off on a big TV show tangent, Alan decides to apologize to Chuck for the way he has treated The X Factor‘s Brian “Astro Turkey” Bradley in the past. Alan mentions the passing of a Welcome Back, Kotter Sweathog, followed by a new announcement on who will be performing during the Super Bowl half-time show. Chuck and Alan then talk about tonight’s American Idol Galveston auditions, which included a couple of sob stories. Goodnight Irene calls in to talk about the sob stories and just how much those stories help the contestants involved.
The never-ending American Idol auditions continue to assault us as Ryan Seacrest, Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler make a stop in Galveston, Texas. Even if the next American Idol comes from here, is there enough left in any of us after this process to care?

American Idol made a stop in Aspen, Colorado, and the last auditioner from that city caused Alan, aka the Token White Guy, to activate the All Digital Radio Network’s Emergency Alert System. After Alan calmed down, he talked about Season 7 contestant, Josiah Leming, tried to play Steven Tyler’s National Anthem from Sunday, successfully played Sir Darryl’s National Anthem from Sunday, and talked about San Diego’s Bikini Girl 2.0 audition.
The American Idol auditions roll on as Ryan Seacrest, Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler take their act to Aspen, Colorado. As Ryan likes to ask, will the next American Idol come from here? And as I like to ask, will we be tortured into submission while looking for the next American Idol?
The initial auditions took place at Invesco Field at Mile High, now called Sports Authority Field at Mile High, in Denver. However, the audition room, where the three judges hear the auditioners, are in Aspen tonight. In other words, much like what happened when Idol came to Cowboys Stadium in ARLINGTON, the city of Denver will likely never get mentioned tonight. Ugh.

With Season 11 of American Idol under way, I thought it would be fun to take a look back and some of our favorite contestants from the past, specifically those who either didn’t make the Top 24 or, if they did, sort of faded away after being eliminated, and see where they are now. This week’s Then and Now look was requested by Idol Radio Show regular commentator, and sometimes genius, ChuckRitt.
Blonde hair Josiah Leming was 18-years-old when he auditioned in Atlanta for Season 7 of American Idol. He had packed up all his belongings prior to the audition…… actually, nearly a year before the audition. In one of those sob stories that viewers still remember to this day, Josiah had left home when he was 17 and was living out of his car.
But let Josiah, and American Idol tell you that story.
Josiah would later tell MTV News that he didn’t want to be one of American Idol‘s sob stories, that he wanted to stand with his voice. Whether the viewers would have liked Josiah at this point without the sob story is unknown, but he certainly had the talent needed as well as a charm that put viewers at ease. Whatever the reason, though, he left the auditions as one of the more well-known, and popular contestants.
But many wondered if he was up to the task of taking on what Hollywood Week had to offer.
Before co-hosting with me last Thursday, Queen Angie made the fateful comment to me off the air: “I am immune to bad Hollywood remakes.” She said this to let me know there was nothing, NOTHING, I could throw her way movie wise that would cause her to get angry.
She should have never spoken those words.
On Sunday, Queen Angie and I discovered the latest Hollywood remake tragedy: 21 Jump Street. It came in the form of a 30-second TV-commercial during Sunday night’s American Idol San Diego audition. The 21 Jump Street commercial was so horribly bad, it made you wonder if there was anything good in the movie at all. Sadly, I went looking for the answer to that question and found one of the previews currently airing in theaters.

One of my favorite shows on television is Kitchen Nightmares, the Gordon Ramsey show where he visits restaurants whose owners have begged him to help them turn their business around. I love watching as Ramsey goes into the restaurant, hits the brick wall that is the owner and/or chef, rips them a new one, and gets the restaurant off on the right foot.
My favorite part of the show, however, is when Ramsey sits down to eat his first meal there. As the owner/chef tells the camera that their food is the best in the city and no one ever complains about the taste of the food, Ramsey is in the dining room doing his best to keep down what little food he’s eaten. There have been a few times where the show has indicated that Ramsey lost that battle.
